Leadership Program

Heri Yangu Foundation (HYF) Leadership Program

The HYF Leadership Program, revised in 2021, is a renowned program for educational leaders, teachers in leadership roles and aspiring leaders. Founded on solid expert research and five years of sector consultation, this essential leadership framework has been designed by early childhood experts and quality assured by early childhood practising leaders. Our Leadership Program was specifically created as a strengths-based, self-directed, short-term program for both current and aspiring early childhood leaders in diverse settings.

This program includes access to:

  • twelve online professional learning modules and webinars

  • the HYF Leadership Program folder containing the hardcopy Leadership Capability Framework

  • a ‘how-to’ guide with suggestions on how to make the most of the Framework

  • online forum where you can connect with others who are completing the program

  • the opportunity to develop your own Personalised Professional Learning Plan relevant to your individual work environment and development priorities

  • respected leaders within the sector who can provide tailored feedback (optional) on your Personalised Professional Learning Plan

  • a HYF Leadership Program completion certificate.

Professional Learning Guide

At Heri Yangu Foundation (HYF) we believe that professional learning should meet your needs as an educator. This includes face-to-face events and conferences, live online events, printed publications and magazines, and online modules, webinars and webcasts.

All content produced by HYF is reviewed and undergoes rigorous quality-assurance processes, ensuring you will have evidenced-based tools and resources that inspire quality.

In this issue we are pleased to present an overview of some of HYF’s professional learning, including online modules and webinars, publications and printed resources, and events.

We hope that this breadth of resources is beneficial for you and your teams. Our work is mapped to the National Quality Standard (NQS)—as this may help you in your considerations.

Support for professional advocacy

HYF also recognises that promoting the rights and voice and young children does not only require high level advocacy, but also empowering early childhood services and educators to take leadership at the local level and supporting them to deliver programs which also meet these objectives.

That’s why part of our goals are to ensure early childhood education and care is provided by a qualified, specialised and skilled workforce. This includes building leadership capabilities across the early childhood education and care sector.

HYF regularly visits and meets with services and educators to showcase best practice and engage and consult on issues concerning the sector. We hold service visits, conferences, branch meetings and advisory and reference groups to inform our approach.
